8/9th March - HOSSAM & SERENA RAMZY WORKSHOPS

8th March, 12-6pm - Bedouin Tribal dance from Egypt - a workshop exploring the various earthy moves and traditional dance styles of the Egyptian Bedouins scattered across the Shahara. Depicting the contemporary life styles of the Tribal Bedouins, you will learn the dance steps they use in their wedding celebrations, which will be taught in a special choreography by Serena recently presented in the DVD "Bedouin Tribal Dance".

9th March, 12-6pm - Special choreography breakdown of Serena's drum solo to Hossam's "My Brazilian Pearl" from the CD "Sabla Tolo II". Fusing sounds and moves from Egypt, Brazil and Tunisia, the Arabian Gulf together with the heart and soul of Africa.

15th March - PRINCESS FARHANA WORKSHOPS

Princess Farhana will be teaching workshops in Croydon on Saturday 15th March. Don't miss out - they will probably be her only UK workshops this year and we expect them to sell out fast!

She's in London to attend the World Premiere of her film, Underbelly. The premiere will be in London on the 19th March. Details are here Zaghareet Magazine called it 'gutsy and honest' and said: 'you'll definitely want to see this movie.' Don't miss it!

And here are the details of the workshops. All are at the Phoenix Centre, Mollison Drive, Wallington, near Croydon.

Saturday 12pm-2pm £25 - Cool, Creative Combinations

These sizzling combinations will enhance any type of bellydance performance and can be used in improvisation or choreographed situations. The combinations might look complicated, but are broken down into clear, easy-to-follow segments. We will run the gamut from stationary gooey moves to cute traveling steps, turns, level changes, sassy pop moves and cool Tribal combos, complete with footwork, hand and arm embellishments and use of pace. We will also explore adding shimmy layers and spicing the moves up with level, speed and directional changes.

Saturday 2.30pm-5pm £28 - Beginners Burlesque It's time to strut like a show girl and learn to tease a la Gypsy Rose Lee in the retro-burlesque style! Techniques covered include cute entrances and exits, showgirl walks, boa work, bumps and grinds. Plus basic striptease mechanics and a short retro-burlesque routine, just for fun. We'll also learn about the Burlesque/Bellydance connections, the legendary stars of burlesque and burlesque history from the turn of the century to modern times.

Bring high heels, a brassiere, some undies a pair of gloves, plus a feather boa (or a scarf or veil tied at each end to act as a boa) Don't worry - you WON'T be taking your clothes off - we do it all over our class gear. So wear clothing you can put your undies over such as fitted leggings/Tshirt or shorts/fishnet tights.

Bellydance Superstars will be back in London for 5 days starting on October 22, 2008 at the Bloomsbury Theatre.

The shows will be accompanied by a full series of workshops across the weekend with the Bellydance Superstars and other great teachers, as well as a sales event with many different vendors for a full week of multifaceted Bellydance activities. The venue is yet to be confirmed, but will be in the near vicinity of the Bloomsbury Theatre, which will be the focal point of the weekend's entertainment. It promises to be a full week of Bellydance entertainment for the first time in Central London with easy access routes and many local hotels!

Other UK shows will be announced in the weeks prior or after this event.

They are currently looking at venues from Scotland to the South Coast, and these will be the only Bellydance Superstars performances in the UK in 2008 with the exception of Raqs Britannia. Please stay tuned for more details and information.
